  • HOW DO I REGISTER?

Simply fill in the online contact form located on our ‘contact us’ page, with your details. We will send you confirmation and further information.

  • HOW LONG ARE CLASSES?

Little Leapers and Beginner A classes run for 30 minutes. Beginner B and Primary classes run for 1 hour. Intermediate and Open classes run for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Choreography and Ceili class runs for 30 minutes.

  • DOES MY DANCER ATTEND CLASS ONCE A WEEK?

Dancers enrolled in our Little Leapers Pre School programme are encouraged to attend one class per week. If your Little Leaper wishes to enrol in more than one class per week they are welcome to do so.
Beginner dancers have the option to attend either one or two classes per week. Primary level dancers are encouraged to attend two classes per week. Intermediate and open dancers are required to attend a minimum of two classes per week with the option to attend a third class or access private lessons.

  • WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT LEVELS?

Little Leapers – This is our pre-school programme for dancers aged 6 months -4 years.

Beginner A – Introductory beginner class for dancers learning beginner light shoe.

Beginner B – Advanced beginner light shoe and beginner heavy shoe.

Primary – Dancers that have progressed from the initial beginner stages. These dancers have developed the basic foundations of Irish Dance in Light & heavy shoe.

Intermediate & Open – The highest levels of Irish Dance instruction. These are experienced dancers that have progressed through the previous levels and have learnt to perform to a high standard.

  • WHAT SHOULD MY DANCER WEAR TO CLASSES?

Dancers are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement and modesty. Suggestions would include shorts, t-shirt or singlet. For dancers’ first lessons, they are encouraged to wear comfortable enclosed and safe footwear such as trainers, dance sneakers, pumps/ballet shoes.

  • CAN I OBSERVE MY CHILD'S CLASS?

Little Leapers and beginner parents are welcome to observe their child’s first lesson inside the studio. For Further lessons we ask that parents remain outside in the waiting area, where they can still observe the lesson through the large windows. Parents remaining inside the studio while lessons take place can increase distractions and disrupt students.

  • WHAT IS THE COST?

Little leapers and Beginner A classes are $10 per lesson, payable on a term basis. First trial lesson is free and the remainder of the term is billed on a pro rata basis. For all other fees please enquire for our fee structure.

  • WHY IRISH DANCING?

We believe that Irish Dancing education lasts a lifetime. In addition to fun, flexibility and fitness, Irish Dancing promotes opportunities for dancers to develop lifelong friendships, building self-esteem and confidence, with transferable skills that will help develop social and academic skill sets. Irish Dancing is a unique art form that is globally appreciated, respected and enjoyed.

The Carolan Academy aims to encourage confident performers with a respect and passion for the Irish Dance art form. We believe that Irish Dance tuition delivers many skill sets that will be utilized by dancers in whatever career and opportunities they pursue. At The Carolan Academy, we understand that life can become busy for families. We endeavour to keep the lines of communication with parents open, clear and precise, and deliver any information in advance where possible through email, social media and our regular newsletter. All students and their families are considered part of the Carolan Academy family. We have a closely-knit, family orientated and supportive community. The Carolan Academy has a strict anti-bullying policy in place, with high behavioural expectation, ensuring the safety and well-being of each and every member.
